Our Commitment to You
A Code of Ethics You Can Count On
CarePoint holds to the professional Code of Ethical Standards of the National Christian Counselors Association. Here is what that means for you as a client.
Why this matters
Care you can trust, from the very first conversation
Reaching out for counseling takes courage, and it should be met with care you can trust. The commitments below are the standards we hold ourselves to in every session, so you always know how you'll be treated and what to expect.
Our Promises
What you can expect from us
Your welfare comes first
Your wellbeing and protection are the primary goal of every session. Care is designed for restoration and growth, never to serve our interests at your expense.
Respect for every person
You will be treated with respect, care, and dignity regardless of race, religion, gender, income, education, or background. Everyone who reaches out is valued.
Strict confidentiality
What you share is protected. Your information is kept private and secure, and it is shared with another professional only with your written consent, apart from a few legal limits explained below.
Informed consent
Before you begin, you'll receive a full and honest picture of what counseling involves: the expected benefits, any risks, and alternatives, so the choice to continue is always freely yours.
Your choices stay yours
You have the freedom to make your own informed decisions. We walk alongside you and offer guidance, but we will never make your life choices for you.
Honest credentials, clear fees
We represent our training and certifications truthfully and identify our care as Christian, biblical, and pastoral. All fees and financial arrangements are discussed clearly and up front.
Clear professional boundaries
The counseling relationship is one of trust. Any form of exploitation, sexual conduct, harassment, or pressure is strictly forbidden, and we take care to keep the relationship professional.
Realistic expectations
We won't make exaggerated or unrealistic promises about outcomes. The goals of counseling are stated honestly, within the real scope of the process.
Cost is never a barrier
An inability to pay will not keep you from care. Sliding-scale pricing is available, and no one in need of pastoral support is turned away over cost.
The right referral when needed
If an issue falls outside our training, or another provider would serve you better, we will make a responsible referral, and cooperate with other counselors already caring for you.
Your Privacy
A closer look at confidentiality
What you share in counseling is treated as privileged and confidential. Your records are stored securely, and your privacy and identity are carefully protected. Information is released to anyone else only with your written permission.
By law and by conscience, there are a few narrow limits to confidentiality. These are explained to you as part of the intake process, before counseling begins, so nothing is a surprise:
- When child abuse, elder abuse, or abuse of a vulnerable person is suspected, and the law requires it to be reported.
- When sharing information is necessary to prevent a clear and immediate danger to you or someone else.
- When disclosure is required by a legal proceeding or court order.
For clients under eighteen, the specific content of sessions is kept confidential, though a parent or guardian may receive general information about the counseling process.
